I have heard this is a seasonal problem over winter/spring and yes all my goats have got some lice with a couple of my goats having alot of them. They are not rubbing themselves but I can see them in their coat when I groom them. I think they are the biting kind rather than the sucking kind as I cannot see any blood droppings in their fleece.
Anyway as some of them are pregnant and lactating and as I have been told you can never get rid of them completely, does anyone have a recommended lice repellant?
The vet is happy to give me something to inject them with, but wondered if there are any good alternatives.
I read somewhere else that you can use flea powder for kittens, but wanted some advice before I have a go.

Re: Goat Lice
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 5:08 PMI hate lice. But I've gotten some really good information on treating lice with Ivomec injectable given orally. You give it at the rate
of 1cc per 34LBs. You will have to retreat in 10 to 12 days to get the second hatch. I got the information
from a website called, Fiasco Farms. It should come up if you put it in the search engine. They have alot of other great goat
information. I'll be giving my goats their second round on Sat. I live in Wisconsin and I guess this has been a bad year for lice.
